Here are some real-life situations we've come across:
- Squabbles over the same glove.
- Accidentally packing two identical gloves in one bag.
- The opposing team calls the club: "We found a glove with no name on it—is it yours?"
- After almost every practice, right after leaving the dugout: "Glove found, whose is it?"
- Helmets mistakenly swapped and used by the wrong players.
Make sure to clearly label the kids’ gear—not just for yourself, but for everyone else too. And you can really take it seriously, because even water bottles sometimes come in threes in a single dugout! During training or a game, kids aren’t always paying attention to their stuff, so please help them out here. It saves hassle both for us coaches and for the players themselves.
Put stickers or labels on helmets, or if needed, use a permanent marker. There are also websites like http://goedgemerkt.nl that can provide labels, which is super handy.
