Why a podcast, and who’s it for?

If you understand that creating content can add value to a brand or an idea – like the Coach Ball platform – then a podcast might be one of the ways to go. But why choose this route?

  • Podcasting is the perfect way to connect with both new and existing followers.
  • We can handle podcasting ourselves—no need to outsource it.
  • Podcasts are easy to access and can be listened to anywhere. You don’t have to ask people to carve out time for a seminar or workshop at a specific moment.
  • Research shows that 61% of listeners buy products or services after they’re mentioned in a podcast. That opens up some great opportunities.

One of the coolest things about podcasting is the close connection you can build with your listeners. They’ll easily spend 30 minutes or more tuning into your brand, on their own time. In today’s fast-paced social media world, that kind of focus is pretty rare and gives you the perfect chance to take a deep dive with your audience. These podcast vibes are also great for building new relationships. With this type of content, we aim to grow our network, share our own knowledge, and pick up fresh insights along the way. #winwin

Target Audience

Our audience includes:

  • Baseball and softball enthusiasts
  • Newbie youth baseball and softball coaches
  • Experienced baseball and softball coaches
  • Coaches from other sports looking for something familiar

It would be fantastic if, besides the primary target groups mentioned above, we could also reach new audiences through Spotify. Below is a target group definition that matches ours:

Location: The Netherlands
Language: Dutch
Age: 18 to 55
Gender: All shapes and sizes of people 😉
Interests: Baseball, Softball, Baseball bats, Coaching, Minor league baseball, MLB, Little League Baseball, Triple-A, Softball, Fastpitch softball, I love softball, and more
Relationship Status: Doesn’t matter
Education Level: Doesn’t matter

Estimated target audience size: 953,700 – 1,100,000 (based on Facebook target groups).

When to call it a day?

The honest story: when do you start something and when do you call it quits?

Why would we stop this platform or podcast? The tricky part about a podcast is that you can’t track direct conversions. That makes it harder to say, “this x has the value.” Of course, you know the number of listeners and streams, but how much new energy does it give you, and how much does it take? If that balance is off, it could start to weigh you down.

That’s why it’s important for us to keep podcasting as smooth and efficient as possible. No giant edits, and definitely no complicated intros or outros. Above all, it should stay fun—a hobby, or better yet: a passion (even though we’ve invested in some serious gear).

We try to keep the prep as minimal as possible and stick to a solid structure for every episode. We use a template, which makes everything quicker and way more natural.

All in all, a fun challenge—we’re looking forward to it!

Enjoy listening!
